Phenylphosphonate functionalized fully-reduced hourglass-shaped organophosphomolybdate(V) hybrid (H₂bib){Ni[Mo₆(PO₃C₆H₅)₄O₁₅H₆]₂}·9H₂O (bib = 4,4′-bis(imidazolyl)bibpheny) was synthesized as a photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensor. Benefiting from the electron transfer interaction between organic phenyl groups and inorganic {P₄Mo₆} skeleton, compound achieved a low detection limit of 4.61 nmol/L and high sensitivity of 264.02 µA L/µmol toward the PEC detection of levofloxacin in aqueous solution, together with excellent practicality in milk sample.
