Synthesis of 4-(4-Amino-3-methylphenylazo) Benzenesulfonic Acid

4-(4-Amino-3-methylphenylazo) benzenesulfonic acid has been synthesized. It is shown that with the increase in reaction temperature and NaOH concentration the cleavage of -CH₂SO₃Na becomes faster. When the coupling reaction is processed at pH=7~7.5 and the cleavage reaction is processed under the condition of reaction temperature of 90 ℃ and NaOH concentration of 100 g/L, the product yield is about 84 3%.
