Conductive Polymer Encapsulation of YBa₂CuO₇ for Protection Against Reactive Environments

Conductive polypyrrole (PPy) films were prepared on the surface of YBa₂CuO₇ superconductors through electrochemical synthesis or chemical method to prevent YBa₂CuO₇ from corroding in reactive environments.The resuIts showed that the electrochemical polymerization destroyed the superconductivity of YBa₂CuO₇,whereas the chemical coating of PPy/PVC on YBa₂h₃O₇ did not affect the superconductivity.Furthermore,the chemical PPy/PVC coatings could greatly improve the superconductors stability in water and acid.
