Synthesis of Li(DME)₃ (η⁵-MeCp)Nd(t-Bu)₃ and Its Catalytic Activity in Styrene Polymerization

An anionic complex Li(DME)₃ η⁵-MeCp)Nd(t-Bu)₃ was obtained by the reaction of MeCpNdCl₂·_nLiCl·_nTHF with 2 mols of t-BuLi in the mixed solution of THF andpentane.The complex was characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. The complex is soluble in styrene and able to catalyze its polymerization in bulk to give an atacticpolystyrene.
