The rodlike liquid crystalline compound of U-diketone and its complex with terminal carbonyl rhodium were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV and ¹H NMR. Its property was studied by DSC and polarizing microscope. The complex was shown to be a nematic thermotropical liquid crystal.
