Synthesis of Bis(indolyl)methane Catalyzed by Phosphotungstic acid

Bis(indolyl)methanes can be prepared rapidly in good yields(69%~95%) from indole and aldehyde or ketone in the presence of phosphotungstic acid as a catalyst.Their structures were confirmed by IR,¹H NMR,¹³C NMR,MS and elemental analysis.
