Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Poly(aryl ether ketone)s with Azo-units

A series of novel poly(aryl ether ketone)s with zao-units were prepared by low temperature Friedal-Crafts polycondensation of azobenzide diformylchloride and aromatic diethers with pendant cyano groups in the presence of AlCl₃,DCE and NMP.IR,DSC,TG and elemental analysis techniques were used to characterize the polymers.The resulted polymers had the proposed structures and their T_d values in N₂ were 426～452 ℃,indicating that the polymers had good heat-resistance properties.In addition,the polymers can be dissolved in aprotic polar organic solvents(NMP,DMSO and DMF) and some common solvents(DCE,CHCl₃,and THF) as well as in strong protic acid,such as aqueous sulfuric acid,and in CHCl₃/CF₃COOH mixtures.
