The palladium acetate-catalyzed synthesis of chalcones in water in the presence of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate([bmim][ PF₆]) is described.The Pd(OAc)₂-[bmim][PF₆]-H₂O catalytic system can be recovered and reused six times with high efficiency.Compared with previous methods in organic systems,aqueous medium is active,air stable,recyclable,and involving no expensive and enviro-nmentally unfavorable phosphine ligand.
