DIRECT DETERMINATION OF LIFETOMES OF SINGLET OXYGEN IN VARIOUS SOLVENTS

A Nd:YAG pulsed laser was used to excite photosensitizers to induce the generation of singlet molecular oxygen in sclution. The lifetimes of O₂ (¹△_g) in various solvents were determined by monitoring the phosphorescence at 1270 nm. Experimental results reveal that the phosphorescence lifetime of singlet oxygen in solution depends mainly on the property of solvents used.
