STUDIES ON THE COMPLEXES OF RARE EARTH WITH MALEIC ACID AND 1,10-PHENANTHROLINE

Thirteen ternary complexes were synthesized by the reaction of rare earth ions(Ⅲ) (La³⁺、Pr³⁺、Nd³⁺、Sm³⁺-Yb³⁺ and Y³⁺) with maleic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline(Phen) in C₂H₅OH-H₂O(1:1) solution. Elemental analyses indicate that the complexes have a composition of Ln₂(C₄H₂O₄)₃(Phen)₂4H₂O. UV, IR spectra luminescence and thermal properties of the complexes also have been reported.
