Iridium Oxide Coated Anodes Applying to Strong Acid System

A series of SnO₂ and SnO₂-Ta₂O₅ electrodes coated with IrO₂ have been prepared and their microstructures, electrocatalytic activities and anodic stabilities have been investigated. It is found that the oxidation temperature in the course of catalyst preparation has a great influence on the miscibility of SnO₂ and IrO₂. The method requires lower temperature and the partly substitution of Ta₂O₅ with SnO₂ reduces the cost of the electrodes.
