A series of SnO2 and SnO2-Ta2O5 electrodes coated with IrO2 have been prepared and their microstructures, electrocatalytic activities and anodic stabilities have been investigated. It is found that the oxidation temperature in the course of catalyst preparation has a great influence on the miscibility of SnO2 and IrO2. The method requires lower temperature and the partly substitution of Ta2O5 with SnO2 reduces the cost of the electrodes.
