Preparation and Properties of Gas-sensing Compound Cd₂V₂O₇

The gas-sensing semiconductor Cd₂V₂O₇ was prepared by a solid state reaction. The effects of the preparation conditions on the phases of the products have been investigated and discussed in relation to the reaction mechanism. The conductance measurement manifests that the material exhibits a typical surface resistance controlling behavior. The dependence of the gas sensing property on the preparation conditions also have been studied. Results indicated pretty good sensitivity, selectivity, stability and quick response-recovery of the compound to ethanol gas.
