Synthesis and Property of Poly(ether ketone) Containing Cholorophenylphthalazione Moieties

A novel biphenol monomer, 4-(3-chloro-4-hydroxy-phenyl)-2,3-phthalazine-1-one, was used to synthesize a thermalstable engineering plastic with 4,4-difluorodiphenylketone. Its inherent viscosity is 66 mL/g(C₆H₅Cl,25℃). The polymer is soluble in chloroform, N-methylpyrrolidone, nitrobenzene, s-tetrachloroethane with T_g₁=267℃. The monomers and polymer have been studied by ¹H NMR and FTIR.
