Synthesis, Characterization and Bioactivity of Rare Earth Complexes with Bis-Schiff Base from Thenoylpyrazolone

Eleven rare earth complexes with bis-schiff base ligand(L) derived from N,N' bis[(1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-hydroxy pyrazolinyl-4)2-thenoylmethylidyne]ethylenediimine have been synthesized. The general formula of the complexes was characterized to be [REL(NO₃)₂]NO₃, (RE=La,Pr,Nd,Sm,Eu,Tb,Dy,Ho,Er,Yb,Y) by IR, UV-Vis, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR and fluorescence spectroscopy measurements. The antibacterial tests indicated they have high antibacterial activities against S.aureus, B.subtillis, E.coli, E.carotovora and C.flaccumfaciens.
