Preparation of Ultrafine Fe Particles by Microemulsion Method

Nanosized iron particles have been prepared by W/O microemulsion method. The XRD, SEM, TEM and IR results show that the ultrafine particles are coated surfactants and have following properties: average size about 120 nm, density about 3.00 g/cm³, specific saturation magnetization e_s=92.4 Am²/kg, residual magnetism r=3.89 Am²/kg, coercive force H_e=4218.8 A/m. The magneto-rheological fluid prepared from the ultrafine iron particles have good magneto-rheological property and subsidence stability.
