Organic/inorganic hybrid materials poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride)/tetra-ethylsilicate as a support for titanium catalysts have been used in ethylene polymerization. The structures of the supported catalysts have been studied by IR and XPS. The morphology and structure of the organic/inorganic hybrid materials have been investigated by DSC, SEM and TEM. The results show that the organic/inorganic hybrid supported catalysts only have a moderate activity for ethylene polymerization: 1.72×10⁶ g/(h·mol), giving polydispersity of polyethylene about 4.0 and bulk density of 0.3~0.39 g/cm³.
