Preparation of TiO₂/glass Film by Sol-gel Method and There with Photocatalytic Degradation of Rhodamine B

TiO₂/glass films have been prepared by a sol-gel method with titanium tetrabutoxide as precursor. XRD and XPS results indicate the film is composed of anatase phase and with TiO₂ size of about 15~25 nm. Triboloyical study indicates the TiO₂ film has a long antiwearing life. The TiO₂/glass film shows a high catalytic activity in photodegradation of rhodamine B in aqueous solution. The photodegradation follows first order kinetics and its reaction rate can be expressed by Langmuir Hinshewood equation.
