Structure and Biological Activities of Alkaline Soluble Polysaccharide from Marasmius Androsaceus FR

An alkaline soluble polysaccharide R-1 has been obtained by extraction with 2% NaOH from marasmius androsaceus FR. and purified by chromatography on Sepharose CL-4B and HPLC. The GC-MS analysis showed it appeared constructed from glucan. Through periodate oxidation, Smith degradation, methylated analysis and ¹³C NMR it revealed that R-1 has 1→3 Glc as main chain and 1→6 Glc as side chain. The inhibition percentage against S-180 tumor of R-2, which was obtained by elemination of its side chains, was 92.8%.
