Synthesis and Electrochemical Property of the Zn-meso-tetrakis(p-methoxyl)phenylporphyrin

meso-Tetrakis(p-methoxyl)phenylporphyrin(T(p-OCH₃)PP) and its Zn-complex (Zn-T(p-OCH₃)PP) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis,¹H NMR, UV and fluorescence spectra.The electrochemical properties of the complex have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, electrocapillary method in DMSO and a tentative mechanism of reduction on the mercury electrode has been proposed.It is found that the peak currents of the complex are an irreversible adsorption wave.The adsorbed amount of T(p-OCH₃)PP and Zn T(p-OCH₃)PP on mercury electrode surface were 1.41×10^-10 and 6.77×10^-11 mol/cm², respectively as determined by chronoculometry.
