A magnetic photocatalyst(TiO₂/SiO₂/Fe₃O₄) where Fe₃O₄ was coated by SiO₂ film as magnetic matrix, has been prepared by sol-gel method and characterized by XPS, XRD, TEM, IR and UV-Vis spectrometry. The photocatalytic activity of the material has been tested on decomposable substrate Orange-Ⅱ under UV-light or sunlight illumination. The results in decoloration show that an amorphous SiO₂ film present between Fe₃O₄ and TiO₂ can significantly improve the decoloration of Orange-Ⅱ from 73.1% to 99.8%.
