Synthesis of Benzimidazole Derivatives by Microwave Irradiation

Two novel benzimidazole derivatives, 3-N-5,8,8-trimethylbicyclo[3.2.1]octan-2-one[3.4-a]-benzoimidazole and 3-N-1,8,8-trimethylbicyclo[3.2.1]octan-2-one[3.4-a]benzoimidazole, were synthesized by the condensation of camphorated acid with o-phenylenediamine under microwave irradiation. The structures of the compounds were confirmed by ¹H NMR, IR, elemental analysis and X-ray crystal analysis.
