Synthesis and Characterization of Complexes of Mn(Ⅲ),Fe(Ⅲ) and Ni(Ⅲ) with N,N'-Bis(methyl 3-formyl-4-hydroxybenzoate)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane

A new schiff base ligand was synthesized by the condensation reaction of methyl 3-formyl-4-hydroxybenzoate with 1,2-diaminocyclohexane under N₂ in absolute ethanol.The ligand first reacted with Mn(OAc)₂·4H₂O,and then the mixture was exposed to air and treated by LiCl in absolute ethanol to obtained a Mn(Ⅲ) complex.Two Fe(Ⅲ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes were also prepared by the reaction of the ligand with the corresponding metal chloride salts.The new ligand and the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis,¹H NMR and IR.
