Synthesis and Characterization of Dendritic Azobenzene Side-Chain Liquid Crystalline Copolymer (PAMAM-MMAZO)

Polyamidoamine dendrimers(PAMAM) of 1~2 generations(1.0G~2.0G PAMAM) were synthesized via the divergent procedure,we synthesized and the dendritic PAMAMMMAZO liquid crystal polymer was synthesized by Michael addition at room temperature under normal pressure.LC,IR,and ¹H NMR revealed that the target polymers were succesfully prepared.The liquid-crystalline behavior of the synthesized copolymers was evidenced from POM and DSC observation.The yield of the products was 45% with a purity over 90%.The copolymers exhibit different liquid crystalline behavior compared to MMAZO.
