Synthesis of 2, 4, 6-Triarylpyridines Under Microwave Irradiation

Under microwave irradiation,N-phenacylpyridinium chloride 1 reacted with chalcone 2 in the presence of ammonium acetate to afford 2,4,6-triarylpyrididnes 5a~5h in high yields.2,4,6-Triarylpyridines 5a~5h can also be prepared from the one-pot reaction of N-phenacylpyridinium chloride with each of aromatic aldehydes 3 and each of substituted acetophenones 4.The products were identified by ¹H NMR and IR spectroscopy.
