Microporous hydroxyapatite crystals were synthesized from calcium nitrate and phosphorus oxide in water/ethanol solution by hydrothermal method,and the influence of water-ethanol ratio on the crystal morphology and microstructure was explored.The composition and microstructure of the grown crystals were analyzed by XRD,FTIR,DTA/TGA,and TEM.The results show that perfect hydroxyapatite crystals with hexagonal-dipyramidal phase(60×100 nm) and micropores were obtained in V(water):V(ethanol)=1:1,and the hole density was about 3×10⁹/cm².The presence of micropores(1~2 nm) in the crystal planes might be important for biomedical applications as they could enhance the adhesion between the natural and synthesized bone apatite.
