Two complexes constructed with 2,4'-biphenyldicarboxylic acid (2,4'-H2bpdc), 1,10-phenanthroline derivative ligands and metallic salts, namely, {[Co(2,4'-bpdc)(L)(H2O)]·H2O}n (1), [Mn(2,4'-bpdc)(L)(H2O)]n (2) (L=imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline) were synthesized under hydrothermal reaction. The complexes are characterized by elemental analysis, single crystal X-ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analysis. Complex 1 has a 1D chain structure. Complex 2 forms a one-dimensional double-chain structure. They both further linked into a three-dimensional net structure via the intermolecular hydrogen bonds and aromatic π-π interactions.
