Study on the Direct Photooxidation of Near-Infrared Absorbing Benzothiazolone Cyanine Dye

In this paper, direct photooxidation of benzothiazolone cyanine dye in acetonitrile was studied. The photoproducts had been identified by ¹HNMR and fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry. The results showed that the N-ethylbeiizothiazolone (Ⅰ), the ionic acid (Ⅱ), and ionic aldehyde (Ⅲ) are the principal photoproducts.
