OXIDATION OF Tb(Ⅲ)IN THE HETEROPOLY-TUNGSTOPHOSPHATE COMPLEX

It has first been reported that Tb (Ⅲ) is oxidated by K₂S₂O₈ in the heteropolytungstophosphate complex.The complex ion, [Tb(Ⅳ)(PW₁₁O₃₉)₂]^10-, is stable in aqueous solutiononly for hours,being graduately reduced to[Tb(Ⅲ)(PW₁₁O₃₉)2]^11-.It is red-brown,with absorption band at about 420 nm.
