High quality textbooks are the important foundation for high level teaching. This paper made a comparative study of 15 typical physical chemistry textbooks at home and abroad. The comparison is made on 16 aspects including compilation idea, teaching content, acknowledge framework, teaching objectives and the composition and publication of textbooks. The advantages and disadvantages of Chinese physical chemistry textbooks are summarized. Seven suggestions of the important directions and key points for the future construction of physical chemistry textbooks during the 14th Five-Year Plan period was proposed. It has certain reference value for the compilation and publication of physical chemistry textbooks.
