Discussion on Deriving the Rate Expressions of Polyesterification from Different “Polymer Chemistry” Textbooks
Abstract:
Owing to the two different types of understanding on the kinetics of irreversible linear polycondensation, various deduction processes of reaction rate expressions exist in different “Polymer Chemistry” textbooks. In this paper, we elaborate the cause of the diversity in the reaction rate expressions derivation via analysis and comparison of a Chinese textbook and an English textbook, “Polymer Chemistry” written by Zuren Pan and “Principles of Polymerization” written by George Odian, respectively. We hope to provide a reference for teachers’ teaching and students’ learning.
