The progress of chemistry-supported “four new construction” were summarized. There are six routes for building chemistry-supported “four new construction” including establishing new cross-discipline majors, upgrading former characteristic direction to majors, designing new direction with four new construction features, formulating new chemistry-based micro-majors, modifying curriculum and contents of the existing majors, and reforming teaching ideas and strategies. Based on the analysis of the present problems, some important suggestions on the future improvement of chemistry-supported “four new construction” are made.
