Curriculum is one of the main carriers to achieve educational goals. According to the requirements of materials or chemistry majored graduates, we constructed a novel "ability framework system" using "advanced analytical chemistry" as the model. In the system, we used problem-based learning to introduce the teaching content, employed scientific inquiry and knowledge as the basis, and integrated the first class with the second class. After several years' practice, the system showed good effects and achieved perfect unification of teaching and learning, which can build solid basis for graduate students in materials chemistry major. The study is helpful to cultivate the modern graduate students into comprehensive talents who can master theory knowledge and practical ability.
