通识教育是英文“general education”的英译名,也有学者译为“普通教育”“一般教育”“通才教育”等。近些年,国内高校兴起了“通识教育热”,把通识教育当作提升教育质量的一个法宝,并提出了“厚基础,宽专业”的口号,试图培养“万金油式”的“通才”来胜任以后的工作,可是迄今为止,通识教育还没有一个公认的、规范性的表述。本论文通过中美通识教育的对比,分析其差异性,提出如何在教育基础平台上实施通识教育,进一步充实和完善通识教育的内容和内涵。
