Two Cadmium(Ⅱ) Complexes of an Acylhydrazone Ligand Bearing Quinoline Unit: Syntheses, Structures and Fluorescent Properties

Two complexes [Cd(L)(H₂O)(NO₃)₂] (1) and [Cd(L)I₂]·CH₃OH (2) (L=4-hydroxy-N-((quinolin-8-yl)methylene)benzohydrazide) have been synthesized and structurally determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The results show that the Cd(Ⅱ) ion in 1 with a mono-capped trigonal prismatic geometry is surrounded by one acylhydrazone ligand with N₂O donor set, one water molecule, one mono-dendate and one bidendate nitrate anions. However, the coordination geometry of the Cd(Ⅱ) ion in 1 is a distorted tetragonal pyramid with oxygen and two nitrogen atoms provided by the ligand L and two iodide anions. The thermal stabilities and luminescent properties of both complexes are also investigated in detail.
